Celebrate Recovery
The Recovery Ministry of The Lamb's Chapel provides a safe place for individuals to begin their journey of healing from lifes hurts and losses. Learning to place our loneliness, worry, and anxiety into the Masters hands is all part of the process.
"Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, wh do you worry about the rest?" Luke 12:25-26
Recovery classes meet in the spring and fall on Thursday nights at 7:00 pm in the Sunday School building. We offer GriefShare for those who have lost loved ones and DivorceCare for those who have been through the agony of separation and/or divorce. The next sessions begin October 1, 2009. Grief Share
Losing my husband of 36 years was devastating. My grief was so intense and at times seemed unbearable. My Lord, family, and friends were all that kept me going.
One Sunday afternoon, I decided to go to the Family Christian Book Store to look for a book on losing a husband. I found a book titled Getting to the Other Side of Grief: Overcoming the Loss of a Spouse by Zonnebelt and Vries.
Both of these authors had lost a spouse and it felt like the book was written for me. Several times in the book they suggested that you find a grief support group. I looked in the newspaper and found a Grief Share program starting at a local church the next month.
I decided to go and my daughter, who was also deeply grieving, went with me. It was definitely a life changing experience for both of us. Grief is a journey and this group experience helped us travel that road. Life is never the same after you lose a loved one, but it can go on. It has now been over 2 years since I lost my husband and I feel I can embrace life again. GriefShare helped me start the journey and my faith, family, and friends have helped me travel the road.
